The Harper House is located in the center of San Francisco, in the Haight-Ashbury
neighborhood. It is conveniently accessed by MUNI, the public transportation system of
San Francisco, for travel within the City. Of course, airport door-to-door shuttles as well as taxis also provide quick and easy service. The shuttles are substantially less than a taxi.
Door to Door shuttles are available from the upper level of the airport terminal, on center pedestrian isle.
When taking a shuttle from the airport, tell the driver you wish to go to the
Haight-Ashbury with the address of
1562 Waller Street, cross-street Belvedere. It is now also possible to take BART from the San Francisco Airport into the city. The fare
is about $4.90. Ride to the Civic Center Station and exit the BART system. You will see signs
to the MUNI system. Enter at the turnstyles (fare = $1.50) and go down to the platform. Take
the N-Judah / Ocean Beach train OUTBOUND. The train will come up to ground level, and quickly
go through a tunnel. Immediately after the tunnel is a stop at CARL and COLE. Get off. Turn
Right on COLE ST., and walk two blocks to Waller. (IF you come to Haight St., you've gone one
block too far.) Turn right on Waller, and 1562 is on the left before Belvedere.
Parking is available only on the street. It can be challenging to find a spot occasionally. Frequently, a curb-side space
can be found within a three block radius. There is also a lot at nearby (3 blocks) Kezar Stadium which offers parking for $12 a day (no in / out).

From the airport by car:
Exit from the SFO airport:
1. Go north toward San Francisco on Hwy 101
2. Follow Hwy 101 North toward the Golden Gate Bridge, to Fell St. The freeway will turn into a surface boulevard for a few blocks.
Stay on it to the end and make a left turn onto Fell St. (Be sure to NOT go toward the Bay Bridge, in the direction of Oakland / Berkeley)
3. Stay on Fell St. for about 1.7 miles to Masonic St. There is a Chevron gas station on the right.
From the left lane, turn left onto Masonic. Be careful of bicycle and pedestrian crossings as you turn left.
4. Go straight through three traffic lights, to a STOP sign at Waller and Masonic. Turn right.
5. Go straight through three STOP signs. The Harper House is about 20 meters past the third STOP sign on the right, no. 1562.
